T1(Super)Blog23- Day 2 blues

Yes, it is Day 2 again. I like Day 2's, but sometimes they can get tiring. I liked when all the middle years classes were in one day, it was so much easier-or maybe that was only because it was grade 8! Anyways, in math we went over how to solve this one question which most of the class didn't understand. Our teacher-Mr. Chrasastowski?- told us the answer and he used quadratic equations! I didn't think we'd go into calculus and all that hard stuff. Honestly, i don't even know what calculus is. Math ended on a happy note when he assigned us homework from the text book (can't believe that makes we relieved)! In french i did my french skit with my partner in front of the class, and though i thought it would have turned out bad, it was actually good. I think i'm getting over that stage fright i have now. Baby steps. Next french class i have a doctors appointment so i'll be missing part of french and since lunch is rigth after french on friday i'll also miss some of English! It's horrible, but my mom can't change the appointment now so i might as well go. We went over our independent reading program with one of the librarians. Her name escapes me, what a bad memory i have. I've already signed up to do a book test for the two towers on friday (boy so many things are happening on friday). After english we made science webs and read part of chapter 1. Although we've skipped to chapter 5. I don't know whether Ms. Tang is a strict teacher or a leniant one. On one hand she talks a lot about interesting stuff and we have fairly simple work in class, but on the other hand, we have a lot of homework. The Check Your Understadning itself is atleast 13 questions for each section! After school i played with my dog a bit, i felt like i'd ignored him this passed week- dogs need attention too. Then i did a bit of socials and then i went to my soccer practice. Now you must be thinking "Why is this a super blog?" well today i kept thinking how horrible the Six laps around the track was, so i'm going to write a poem about my experience! I'm actually writing this on the spot so don't critisize!

The wind pierced through my skin
I was running, but i didn't want to win
water was everywhere
In my shoes, and my socks
On the ground and in my hair
I was a living ice cube trying to thaw
Left, Right, Left, right,
thump, thump, thump
Went my runners on the cement
I'd lost count, how many had it been?
Was i still on my first or had i made it to ten?
It was cold, and wet, but i went on anyway
There's the end
In the distance i could see a big white line
I can do this! I can do this!
I made it, but i didn't beat my time....

T1Blog22 Mr. Sun Please come out and play!

One of the good things about Day 1's are that i don't get too much work. It's a day to listen and relax. Except for physical education, we had to do 6 laps today, in the freezing rain, while the wind blew at our faces! I definitely didn't do any talking while the cold wind sliced through my skin. It wasn't nice, or happy, but i'm glad i got through it. Now all that's left is langara and i actually like going around langara, even though it's longer. The scenery is breathtaking- even though i've seen it over a hundred times. Anyways, once i escaped the cold morning i had foods where it's always warm and joyful! We had a lab where we simply had to cut one apple (with a partner) and put it in the freezer. I found that strange, but the main part of the lab was to clean up after yourself. The teacher wanted to see how well you cleaned up your station. Although we didn't use many dishes so there wasn't much to clean, except for the water on the counter. The period went by too fast, the warmth went away!!! In applied skills, we had a substitute at you know because you were the one away. I wonder what happened to you....that's awkward asking what happened to you, to you! We finished the movie-finally- and it was pretty good. I can't believe the people on earth didn't believe her though! I mean was the point of all that just to doubt her, even after she says she went through a wormhole and landed on Vega! I wouldn't have changed that though, it doesn't give the movie a final conflict thing in the ending. Although i'm surprised she went back to Mexico to the huge telescopes, i thought she would be working on bigger and better things. Anywho, last period-socaisl- we handed in our maps, which we worked oh so hard on. At least i know i did. We also went over the basic mapping information like bearings, scale, and how it hailed during 3rd period. I had no idea, about the hail i mean. I feel more sorry for the people in PE 3rd block than I was for myself. After school i basically came home, then read a bit, watched some TV, and finished my science, practiced for my french skit, and did my alternate ending for applied skills. I must go, i am sleepy and tired now.

T1Blog21 Today = Yesturday

As you can see I'm writing my blog today, which is tomorrow if it was still yesturday. In other words i didn't write my blog yet. Don't misunderstand though, i didn't forget and I DEFINATELY wasn't lazy. My mom was studying (she's doing a marketing course) and it got pretty late. I had to get my sleep so here i am 24 hours later! Yesturday i didn't even realize it was Monday. My mom had asked me after school if it was really Monday, only after she asked did i remember. I thought is was the middle of the school week, a Wednesday, or something. First thing in school was math where we did BEDMAS! And had a question assigned for homework (the answer is supposedly a famous number! I haven't solved it yet, but i will, actually i have solved it because today is tomorrow and yesturday (in this blog) is Today. It's all coming together now. This remind me of the quote Miss Tang showed us in science, "I don't know, I don't know, I know. I don't know, i know, i don't know". It'll take too long to explain so i'll let your mind wander around trying to firgure out the quote, unless you already know it! Anyways, we got some Homework in english and I must practice for my french skit (on Wednesday). Oh, right, i ALMOST forgot; i didn't make the volleyball team.

T1Blog20 Too much on the plate

I woke up at 11 today (exactly an hour and a half before i had to leave for the soccer game). In the time before the game i finished my math homework (told you my procrastination only went so far) and i ate breakfast, obviously. Along the way to the field we got a bit lost, it was in the middle of nowhere again. I had printed out a map for us to follow, but even then, this time the instructions just didn't help. I was only 10 minutes late (by that i mean 35 minutes before the game). The coach always tells us to come 45 minutes before the game to stretch and warm up. Although the sun was doing most of the warming up already, boy was it hot! I don't like having games in the middle of the day, it makes it so hard to run it the sun. My mouth dries up and tastes like....like....something i've never tasted before. Anyways, the game was no better than the heat. This team was good, really, really, good. I lost count after they scored the 8th goal, after that it was just a blur. We put up a good fight, but we were no match. I think we need to improve out talking and passing on the field. The game ended ended late this time and by the time i got home is was 4:25. I needed to be at mary's house at 4, obviously that didn't happen. I ended up coming to her house at 5:25. We were meeting again for the socials project, which is going really well. We've started the power point and are half way from being finished. We're going to work on it this next week, along with the presentation (what we're going to say). Our team is on the right track. We'll probably finish early, which will give us time to make revisions and improve our final copy. When i got home i finished that long waited science homework and now i'm writing my blog. I'm going to sleep now because tomorrow i must wake up early to go to school early so that i can find out if i made it on the volleyball team!!!

T1Blog19Homework time!

Today was strictly a day for homework. I woke up nice and late so i could be fully rested for what the day would bring me. While my friends played outside i was slaving away for hours on my homework. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into it. Okay, maybe the picture wasn't that brutal. Anyways, my day started out working on my science homework. I had to take notes on 5.3 and 5.4 plus i had to complete the entire Check Your Understanding questions. There were about 15 questions in each section! I can tell Miss Tang really wants us to understand what we're learning. I also started thinking about the science fair. I sat on my couch for ten minutes, playing with a rubber band, just thinking about what good projects would be. So far i don't have many, but it'll come, it has to. Science was so long and dull that i took a bit of a brake and watched TV. Before i new it, it was 6. Where did the time fly off to? I was going to start my math, but i showed my mom my finished map and she told me to color the highest elevation darker to make it stand out more. So i spent the next hour coloring another layer onto the map. By 8 i finally started my math homework. It took a while....and by a while i mean a while. That's mainly because i was watching TV while doing my homework, that combination just doesn't work for me. I ended up stopping 2 questions away from being done at midnight! I told you TV and homework didn't mix. I wanted to wake up early to finish those 2 final questions before the soccer game started. So yeah my day was filled with procrastination as you can see. But with my procrastination only goes so far because i end up finally doing the work the next day, or the next next day. I don't wait till i have to cram and stay up all night. That isn't me at all.

T1Blog18 Volleyball- second thoughts?

I was so expectant for the volleyball tryouts, but i also have seconds thoughts about joining. My parents kept saying it's going to be too much stress for me to do soccer and volleyball and juggle all my homework at the same time. I thought i could handle it though. I mean i did last year didn't I? After what they said I'm becoming hesitant! What if i made it and it was too much? I really love volleyball though!!! Well, I think I'll try to juggle it because last year I was fine so this year i'm pretty sure i can pull through. The struggle! Anyways volleyball tryouts were VERY fun! I forgot how much i loved the game. Tryouts were actually half an hour longer than they should have been, but i honestly didn't mind-i was "In the moment". I got home from the tryouts at around 5:15 and almost instantly started coloring my map. It looks good so far, but i don't think the elevation looks good. I forgot most of my pencil crayons at school so i had to make do with the ones i had at home (it didn't really make that much of a difference though). I was really famished after the tryouts so the map was all i worked on. I also didn't bring an Atlas home because i thought the one i had at my house had elevation, turns out it didn't. If it weren't for the internet i wouldn't have finished. The Internet, one of the best inventions ever......
I wouldn't have been able to get my map done if it weren't for this extra day. I am so glad there was a Pro-D day today.

T1Blog17Another chance for Volleyball

What i thought i had lost came again in the form of a miracle! I didn't make the split grade 9/10 team for volleyball, but today they made an announcement saying they found a coach for a grade 9 volleyball team! There was a meeting today, but i didn't hear what room the meeting was in. SO after school i ran around the school asking people where the meeting was and when i finally found out, it was already over. So sad, bit I'm not giving up. Today was a day two so in math we went over adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing integers. We also got two pages of homework. To bad i forgot my math text book in Sharon's locker! I'll have to ask someone else. In french Abi-my partner- and I finished our skit and were practicing it in class. The day we will reveal our skits will be Wednesday. After french i went straight to English, today being a Friday schedule, and was surprised to find out that we had to do a creative writing thing for a contest Mr. Hauk was going to put 3 of us in. We had to use the words, Skytrain, facebook, sob, compost, What If?, and Labyrinth. He said we could write anything we wanted (including Poems!). So i ended up writing a poem because i had a good idea and i didn't feel like writing a lot. You know when i start writing it ends up being... extremely long. Anyways after lunch we had a WHMIS quiz in science. I thought it would be a small quiz, but it was 46 questions long! I had no idea it would be that difficult. I studied, but i didn't 'test' study. It turned out being pretty straight forward i was only unsure about a few questions. The day ended and i was so glad. I worked on my map later on, i colored the rivers and ocean, now i just need to color the elevation. Anyways i must go, i am tired and my friend told me that there were volleyball tryouts tomorrow! So i need my rest. byE!

T1Blog16 SuberBlog!--The sun set, not Sunset!

Today i actually did watch the sunset, instead of going to sunset. Although i did watch the sunset at Sunset, which was pretty cool. That was in the summer though. I think sunsets are FESH! They're so colorful and mesmerizing... you get sucked into the beauty...I get sucked into it by simply thinking about it. I didn't know you'd want stuff in the super blog....like watching sunsets because i love taking pictures of sunsets as it is! I decided today's sunset (and other wonderful pictures of sunsets) would be the main theme of my super blog, along with cookies. Yes, cookies. Oatmeal, cinnamon, cookies. I made cookies today in foods class, it was quite an experience. Vanessa, being my partner, and I made a great team- you could almost say we "Synergized", but i wouldn't go that far. I think our new name is sort of misleading, sure we use Synergy, but it makes the whole program sound like something you would take to help with you people skills. This course is helping us do that too, but it's also doing so much more for us! I mean that movie we watched, and didn't finish-!- was awesome and it made you think about life on other planets and whether there really is a god, or how our society is so unfair! Basically it makes you ponder life's questions....Anyways back to foods. The period went by so fast! I thought making the cookies would be pretty challenging, but i was content and relaxed. The best part was when i finally got to sink my teeth into deliciously fresh baked cookies. I think i skipped talking about PE, well it was fitness testing today so we did the usual crunches, push ups, jumps, and runs. After applied skills, since i sort of already covered that subject, I went to socials. We only got time to work on our maps for the last 20 minutes of class. Mr. Matin went over the basics of Mapping in the first 60 minutes. Thing like longitude and prime meridian, tropic of cancer and North Pole, and compass bearings. It's a good thing i worked on my map after school and i have finished outlining. Now i have about 4 days to work on coloring the map-trust me when coloring a map it's good to have more time than less. You can't color well when you have no time, it doesn't turn out well. Right after i got my scientific calculator from Walmart-better prices, better ... i can't remember the ending- I read a bit and caught the awesome sunset. I basically just sat in my room because i have a perfect view-well i can see the colors- from my room. As you can see from up^ there, it was a terrific sunset. Now that i've finally read that book i'm going to bed early so | that last day of school for this week can be spent happily.

T1Blog15 One fun afternoon

Instead of rushing home (well not exactly rushing) as usual, i went to sunset with my friends. We were planning on hanging out because we hadn't done much of that lately. I was glad to get a bit of a break from sitting at home and doing nothing. It felt good to play in the sun. We didn't stay a sunset for long, it was boring so we started walking back, but took the long route. While we were walking along langara (part of our long route) we started walking with our eyes closed (with at least one person whose eyes were open of course). It was so much fun! It took us twice as long to get home, but that didn't really matter since we spent so little time at sunset. When we finally came back, we went on the swings and swung it up! I miss the playground, i wish they had a playground for high-schoolers as well. I would love to play on that playground at lunch, because frankly all we do at lunch is walk around and get bored. Although today we played tag and ran around the field, i think the cookies my friend made, made us hyper. Anyways, a playground would be awesome! I should give that idea to one of the grade reps, whoever that is. Yeah so only when i went home did i start doing my homework. Actually it was more like an hour after i came back, but, again, whatever. I didn't feel like doing that pile of homework waiting for me because i wasn't looking forward to starting my science homework. When i did get around to doing it, i realized it wasn't too difficult. I also took more notes for that huge socials project due in about a week and a half. Uh oh i didn't really write about my school day yet. I'll go backwards today. Let's see during science we had not one, but two quizzes, one of which i'm not confident about. I studied, but i didn't know what to expect of Ms. Tang's quizzes, now i know. In English we read this short story about this women who bought a gnome and it disappeared! Then a few days later she gets all these post cards saying "hey i'm in Calgary and boy is it cold, signed Mr. Gnome". She got all freaked out, and as the letters came the gnome got sicker and they said, "I'm sick, but i'll be alright". Then she gets a telegram in the middle of the night saying the gnome died. Turns out it was the mailman that delivered the postcards to her that was sending the mysterious letters. But when she read the last one, she died. It was a weird, yet moving story. Appearances aren't always what they seem! In french we worked on that project i was telling you about. And in math we got assigned some homework. I'm not done my math homework, i'm going to finish it tomorrow because i won't get too much homework from Mr. Martin and in applied skills we only have to take notes, so i think i can handle that. Well i have to read that book, i didn't finish yet.

T1Blog14 Picture Day

I don't really know how to start my blog. Well i guess now i have started it, but i don't know how to start writing about my day. I'll just randomly write about stuff. As you can see from my title it was photo day today. I thought my photo would be taken after my first class, PE, but it was really taken at the beginning of last block. Everyone says that they don't think their picture turned out well and i have to agree with them. The photographer didn't say "cheese" or "Smile" he instantly took the picture with no warning at all! I wasn't even smiling. And he only took one photo too, last year they took way more, okay maybe only 3. Anyways i have a feeling it didn't turn out like i'd expected. You know in PE a lot of people were concerned about messing up their hair so they didn't even try! I don't get how said people can be so worrisome and self conscious about one photo. It's not like the whole world is going to see that one photo! That's just one of my pet peeves i guess. In foods class we had a demonstration for our first lab on Wednesday! We're making oatmeal, cinnamon cookies! I helped clean out the dished after class, so i got to take some of the cookies Mrs. McConnan made. They tasted as good as they smelled, and they smelled heavenly....Applied skills was very fun, as always. I like how we watch movies that are actually interesting. I mean some movies i've watched from passed experiences have been boring. By boring i mean educational- and by that i mean they try to cram as much information into your head as possible. However, the movie we watched today was entertaining and it had just the right amount of scientific facts. Some times you had to really listen to find the facts, which is like PE for the mind..! 3rd block went by faster than expected, but socials seemed to drag on. I worked on labeling my map, which is really very hard! Looking for all those rivers and islands...my eyes started to hurt. The map is due next Tuesday (the 29th) which gives my a little over a week. i should be done the labeling and fine lining by the end of the week, or thursday. Then i'll give myself 4 days to color because coloring takes most of the effort. We have to include elevation as well, so the mountainous areas will be a different color from the plains and what-not. Which somehow reminds me that the season premier of HOUSE was today! It was two hours long, and it was awesome! Although they rushed it just a bit, but i guess they wanted to get into the season right away. You see House was in a mental asylum and the point of this episode was to get him out and "doctoring" again. Anyways, i must brush and finish that book, which i started but didn't end yet.

T1Blog13 My head hurts

It's Sunday!I had the second soccer game of the season today! For some reason i felt like it was a really important soccer game, even though it wasn't. I guess since it wasn't early in the morning this time, i had to wait longer for it to start. Before the game i worked on my french and science title page/poster. I can't believe i'm not done them yet, but at least i'm getting there. I just have to color them now. Apart from that today was a pretty bad day. First of all we lost out soccer game. And it wasn't even close, we flat out lost. I can't even remember how many times they scored! Another down side to the game was that we played in the scorching heat. The sun was blazing down on us like it wanted our skin to melt off. It was definitely getting my back for something i did to it! Anyways, as if my mood wasn't already lousy, when i got into the car it wouldn't start! Of all the bad luck! There was something wrong with the batterie apparently. So my dad and I had to wait for a person to come and fix the car, or tow it, for at least an hour! If i hadn't had my book to read i would've been so bored. By the time i got home is was 7! I got to the field at 3 so i was gone for a while. Darn! At home all i had time to do was shower and blog. And also read some more. I should go now i have to brush and what-not, and i'm tired.

T1Blog12 Socials all the way!

Sorry! The reason I'm saying sorry is that i wrote an extremely long blog yesterday and i guess i over did it. This one will be shorter, i promise! When i woke up this morning i rushed to take some notes for socials. I was tired and occupied with other homework so i didn't have time to take notes for social studies. Maybe i told you this before, but we (Natalie, Mary and I) have a social studies project on the conflict in East Timor (pronounced tee-more). So today we were meeting up at Mary's house to work on it. Before i went to Mary's house i finished some brief notes on East Timor's conflict. It's basically about their independence. Since Indonesia took over East Timor they didn't get a chance to declare their independence till later and after violence and such. At Mary's house we went over the notes we took and narrowed down the categories we were going to include in the power point. We didn't do any more research, we just planned out our course of when and who was doing what. Like being the 2nd quadrant in chapter 15 in the Gobook. How did i remember that? Well, it happened to be my favorite lesson. So we planned the next week out, who does what and when we make notes. Important, but not urgent! I think it was a good plan. Natalie was the organizer of the whole group, she planned out when we did what. She's a good planner! I think we make a good team. Me-the creative/make things sound better/worse than they are person-, Mary-the computer and formatting expert-, and Natalie-the organizer who keeps things in line. So anyways when i came home i worked a bit more on my french title page and my science safety poster. Those are the only other things i had to work on. I have to read finished readin my book now, so bye!

T1Blog11 Super blog and super fieldtrip!

That last day of the week always seems the longest, especially today, since our field trip will go on till after school. Actually i didn't get home until about 4:30. That sort of sucks, but it was worth it considering the awesome play we watched. As you can see this is my super blog! I took a lot of pictures, which didn't really have anything to do with the play, but the journey to get to the bard on the beach. Before i start blabbing on about the play i still had two classes before the field trip so I'll talk about them first. Actually, i pretty much only had one class since our grade 9 assembly was first block, i got to miss math! Not that I'm happy about that...Maybe a little relieved that i didn't have math homework though. The assembly was predictable, basically a copy of last years, except Mr. Latimer was Micheal Jackson this time. And Mr. Davis kept going on about how much more is expected of us and our responsibilities. I think most of us know how hard grade 9 will be, teachers will start treating us differently because we're not new to the school anymore and what-not stuff like that. I found that part sort of repetitive because how many times are you going to say "The older you get the more responsibilities you'll have". Saying it once is fine, but trying to make us remember that by going on and on about it is tiring. Another thing i noticed is that they always remind you of how many years you have left. I really wouldn't like to know that! Anyways, in french we worked on our first presentations/skits in front of the class. So far my partner and I are on a good start, we have all of next week to finish so i think it'll be fine. I'm not going to go too much into that since i noticed i wrote too much about the assembly anyway. Now i can get into the interesting stuff! So the play was "All's well that ends well". It was about this physicians daughter who was in love with the son of a countess. She wanted to marry him and the countess agreed with the marriage. But the son, Bertram, went to tend to the king who was sick. So the physicians daughter, Helena, went to cure the king as an excuse to marry Bertram. She cured to king, but Bertram didn't want to marry her! He said she was too poor. So he runs off to Italy to fight in a war, and tries to woo this other girl. But Helena- being as cunning as she is- followed him and made plan to get him back. That's basically what happened. I loved the acting of the King! He sounded like a king, you know? I guess it's because he's probably had a lot more experience in acting, since he's older. I though Helena was alright, i think she was overacting just a bit. But that's my opinion of course. And there was this one guy, the countesses assistant or something, he was so funny. When he acted happy he pranced around the stage, it was delightful to watch. I think i've made this blog long enough. After the play i went home of course and basically rested and did some homework.

T1Blog10 Even more tired...

Ugh.....my eyes are burning and my head hurts and I'm tired and i think my eyes are also red! I think I've been doing to many things in too little time. Yesterday must have taken a lot away from me because this morning, in fact all through the day i was sleepy. In the morning i walked to school (not helping my situation) and then had PE first thing (even worse!). We played football, which kept me awake because i as half wet when we we finished. Next class was foods, which was soo warm that i almost fell asleep the minute i entered the room, funny how these things happen. We have out first lab date set for next Wednesday. I can't wait. Anyways the next class was of course applied skills. The next section in the video was cool, but also hard to comprehend. It's not that i didn't understand it, but the fact that the universe could have been nothing....nothing at all is a "Shivers down your spine" sort of thought. I can't picture not seeing something in the vast expanse of space. Picturing i white piece of paper is not pretty site. So applied skills ended and i headed off to socials. I finished my drawing of Europe, finally, but at the same time my head started hurting-a lot. I think it was the fine print i had to read to find some of the straits and islands. We had a substitute today, she didn't do much, just sat at her desk and read her book. She told us we were loud. I take it as a compliment- i've got social skills! The day ended, thank goodness, and i went to my locker. I wasn't going straight home today, i had to go to the library to get a book. My friends came with my, just because they had nothing else to do! They're good company, but that was obvious. When i came back i went straight to the books- starting with english and ending with math. I'm too tired to type more i must go now. Bye!

T1Blog9 Too tired

There wasn't much to do with academics today. I mean other than the normal routine for school i didn't do any homework today. Don't get me wrong though i had plenty of homework to do. The problem was that i didn't have any time at all. And even if i did have time, i was just too tired! My day started out well, i woke up late walked my dog then got to school in the nick of time. In math i kept yawning because i was pretty tired since i stayed up a bit later reading a book. We got math homework this time, but of course none was finished, yet. In french we watched a video and again my fatigue got the best of me after the video. I was resting my head after the quiz we got. We were also assigned a project where we had to be journalists and interview students from a school where the teachers were frozen! We got to choose between many topics. During English i wasn't very happy. Maybe i was just cranky, i don't know. We had to finish our story boards in class and my table group kept talking and going off topic. We didn't get much done and in the last 15 minutes we completely rushed. My Hauk gave all the groups till next class to finish off the story boards. I don't know how this is going to work out, but i took the story board home and I'll try and make it look better. I don't think i mentioned that the story board was for the play "Alls well that ends well". Yeah so the homework so far would be English and math, but i also have that social studies project i want to research for. Just when i thought the day couldn't get worse we had science. It's not that science was a bad subject today, i just didn't want anymore homework! We got assigned a safety poster and something else which i can't remember. After school was the real stress. I went to volleyball try-outs and hopefully made it. Miss. Calder said that we'd have cuts to make it into the next try-out which would be sometime next week. That's one thing i'm both looking forward to and not looking forward to. After volleyball practice i walked home in the pouring rain! Good thing i brought an umbrella. About half an hour after i came home i left for my soccer practice which ended a 8! So as you can see i basically had no time for homework. I guess all will be finished tomorrow. I'm really sleepy now so i'm going to sleep.

T1Blog8 So much more time

As today swiftly flowed by i found that the time after school from 3-10 is long! When i got back from school i read for about 2 hours (till 5:30), then i went around Langara with my friend. By the time i got back it was 7 and i still had time to do my homework. Although there wasn't much homework to do, but still there wasn't any stress about getting things done. So anyways, today started badly. I woke up late and then rushed to get ready. I'm not afraid about getting to school late because i always will, but my friends completely freak out if even 5 minutes is wasted. We had PE first thing anyways, so i didn't get what the big deal was, but tomorrow i'm going to wake up earlier anyways. So in PE we played more football and also went over some of the rules. Apparently the quarter back is the person who throws the ball after getting it from the person who says "hut hut". The object of the game is to score a touch down (which is 6 points) by crossing the end line or that line at the end of the field. Sometime next week we'll be doing our fitness testing, but something i'm not looking forward to is doing the six laps. For some reason i think it's more than Langara which means when i run it i slow down. I think it's a subconscious thing. Anyways, next class was foods in which we filled in a worksheet on kitchen safety. We also learned how to clean dishes and what dangerous diseases there are in some foods-like salmonella. Near the end of the class we got free time because all of us completed the worksheet and had nothing else to do. There was a substitute and i don't think she knew what to do with us after the activity. Then came applied skills where we further investigated the string theory. How it was formed, what started it all, the big bang, black holes, and many more things! The video is actually really interesting, the way they use the graphics to catch the viewers eye is smart. I wouldn't call it genious because i still knew i was learning something. Yeah so applied skills drifted passed and then there was socials. We started making a map of Europe-and by making i'm being literal. We actually have to hand draw it. Too bad my drawing skills don't exceed to flower. I'm in trouble. We also picked topics for our socials project. My group chose East Timor, where they are fighting the gouvernment over whether they should become independent or not. Although they already are, they're just arguing whether the whole country should be independent or just some areas. And when i "arguing" or "conflict" it basically means fighting and war. Tisk Tisk these are what the words are reduced to. Anyways i must go, i've got a long day tomorrow. Volleyball tryouts after school, followed by soccer practice, followed by homework!

Term 1 Blog 7 Back to the basics

This was the first Monday of the school year! It's wasn't any different from the other days of the week, though today i realized that school had officially begun. I mean last week didn't really count because all the teachers were introducing themselves and we didn't learn anything (or get any homework). I was walking with Jasmine to science and we were talking about how long the summer had been, but not that i think about it i can't remember much about what i did. The first school week had been a busy one, and i probably did more during that one week that i did over the whole summer. On to the actual day i had. In math, we were talking about stuff (you know variables and what-not) and again i was drawing a blank. We had to do this double sided worksheet which took me about 45 minutes to complete. It took me a while because first of all the house was pretty loud and it was hard to concentrate, secondly i was doing math on my bed and felt like sleeping, and thirdly math isn't fun! I already said this, but just to emphasize, I'm going to work extremely hard in math this year. I don't want to fail, or get anything under a C (okay maybe a C+). Although, if all goes well, i should be able to grasp a B. I think getting that A would be a goal i would work up to. So math ended on a semi-gloomy note, but french was better. Actually i didn't go to french. Don't jump to conclusions now and think that i skipped or anything! I had a dentist appointment today and had to leave early from class. I'm going to be missing a lot of class in the weeks to come because my braces are finally coming off and i have a lot of appointments to attend to. After a rushed lunch and a sprint back to my locker, for my money for the English field trip, I went to English. Once there we basically went over the play we were about to watch on Friday (thus the race back to my locker). In science we went over safety rules and we got our name tags marked. I got 5 out of 5! Although some people in the class were major over achievers and got 6 out of 5! I Praise them for getting more marks in science! Yeah, so, that was the day i had. Monday.

Term 1 blog 6 The beginning of an awesome season

Sunday comes too fast. I want more time to relax! I woke up at 7:25 today to get ready for my soccer game. The game starts at 9, but i have to be there half and hour to forty-five minutes before kick-off. So basically i had to leave at 8 to get there at 8:20sh. Turns out the game started earlier than expected so we didn't get a lot of time to warm up. Although the sun was doing a good job of that. The game went well, we scored the first goal and then the other team scored two 2. And then we managed to score 2 more as well. Then out of nowhere they ended up scoring 2 more! I think my math is wrong, but i thought the score was 5-3. Maybe it was 4-3 who knows. Somewhere in the middle of the game i headed the ball up into the air (it was the perfect header)! It sailed into the air over every one's heads and landed right in front of the feet of one of the players on my team. Perfect i tell you! My head didn't even hurt after, maybe it was the ecstatic mood i was in after it happened. Anyways when i got home i started working on my science again. I think I've spent too much energy slaving over that one title page. Although it does look pretty good. I also finished that book i started (the City Of Ashes). I'm pretty tired so I'm going to sleep a bit early today. That game knocked the wind out of me! Before i sleep i want to review some math for a short quiz I'll have tomorrow. And that was my day!

Term 1 Blog 5 I got to hold a leopard gecho

Today was my friends birthday party! Her actual birthday was in August, but she was on vacation. And you probably you want to know. So i woke up in the morning at around 11. Pretty early considering school has just started. After the usual morning stuff....breakfast and TV... I started working on my science title page and name tag. I can't remember whether i told you before, but on my name tag I'm going to write Kelly. It was a nickname i had in grade 7, when i put my glasses on everyone used to call me Kelly. Since I'm going to wear my glasses a lot on science i decided that would be a sufficient name. And my name Krishtha doesn't fit on the name tag because when i draw block letters they fill up too much space for 8 letters. Anyways, all that school work was before my friends party. I'll just skip the party part because there isn't anything even slightly educational except when i got to hold my friends new leopard gecko! It was too fesh! Did you know that a gecko's tail can come off if you squeeze it too hard, but it grows back. Unfortunately when it does grow back it doesn't have a bone in its tail anymore. After her party i finished my name tag and now I'm going to sleep. My first soccer game if tomorrow and i don't want to sleep through it.

Term 1 Blog 4 Tired...

I can't believe that the school year has started and that the first week is already over. Being the first week it was an extremely short day due to homeroom. I'm going to miss homeroom, Mr. Hyde was awesome. Maybe next year I'll take drama in his class. Anyways, since it was a day 1 i went to PE first where we started playing football. Well, actually it was more like a passing drill throughout the whole class because there wasn't enough time to do anything else. To my surprise i was actually good a throwing a football! I didn't know i had it in me. It's pretty easy actually, once you know the fundamentals. PE ended too quickly, but my next class was foods so i was expectant for that as well. We still didn't do any cooking- )':- but Miss. Mconnan said we would have a lab soon, very soon. Instead we had a sort of scavenger hunt where we tried to find things around the classroom. After lunch you know what happened, we watched this cool video about the string theory! It was so deep, and a bit scary. Einstein probably didn't want to admit about the world being random because then the basic things you know (like you can't walk through a wall) aren't really true. I mean if you fell and happened to drop into the earths core, that would be frightening. I wrote a whole page of notes, but, i guess there was a 30% chance of this happning, i left the notes at school! It's a good thing you gave us the website, i just watched the part we got up to again and took new notes. I think i got more information because there was no one to ditract me. Anyways after applied skills we got our first project assigned by Mr. Martin (in socials of course). We have to pick a social/political conflict between a country/countries and do a sort of repot on them. I'm in a group with Natalie and Mary. We haven't decided what we're going to do yet, but we'll email each other over the weekend. I'm tired, since i just had my soccer practice, so i'm going to sleep.

Term1 blog 3. The beginning of the end!

I never thought I'd get so overwhelmed in one day. That day being today. During math class (actually enriched math class, which i was dreading) i listened to the teacher and realized i had a long year ahead of me. The things he was talking about looked difficult and i have a feeling I'm going to be spending quite a bit of time on math this year. By the way the teachers name is
Mr. Chrzastowski or something along the lines of that. It's pronounced Mr. Chrastofski though. He went over the things we were going to cover in the year and i was astonished to find that we were going to start trigonometry! I know it has something to do with triangles, but other than that i'm a blank about what it's about. The next period was alright...not as baffling. French is easy during the starting of the year because it's basically a review and then we slowly go into the real lessons, which i like. The review is a good thing. French class was normal, an introduction, then we played a games where we had to go around the class asking people if they could do certain things or went certain places. All the questions were french related of course (like how to conjugate the verb Avoir). Anyways, the class ended on a happy note, when the bell rang and it was time for lunch. English and science were the subjects that i was really looking forward to and trying to forget about. I have mixed feelings about both classes. English with Mr. Hauk should be good, he seems sort of strict, yet he's funny. I think you can laugh at certain times and all the other times you should probably listen to his instructions. I don't know how it'll turn out, just know i'll have to get through it. Now for science! I didn't know what to expect when i walked into the classroom, which is nerve wracking because you don't know the teacher-at all! I meant i've seen my other teachers around in the hall, but today was the first time i've seen Miss. Tang, ever. She said she didn't like to read, so i guess we'll had a lot of visual homework and notes and what-not. I'm fine with that-i'm going to make notes of everything anyways so what does it matter? We started off light today, no stress or worries about science fair. She gave us some homework, to make a name tag for yourself and to make a title page. Apparently you can choose any name you want to be called on your name tag. I haven't chosen yet, but i've got time. Well i can see that, yet again, i have written a lot. I should work on that.

The first official day

The first REAL day of school was normal, which is a surprise. I guess i anticipated what would happen today because, well, I've already had many "first days" in my life. After a while it gets dull and repetitive. The teacher always asks you to write about yourself and basically you go over the rules of the classroom and what-not. It's a straight forward process which can get so predictable. Anyways, one class i don't have to worry about being predictable is PE. Which happened to be first in my school day. During the whole class we played tag! What a way to start of the school year! I will praise Ms. Bretherton by giving her a round of applause-by one person! The next class was foods, which i had been expectant for all year and all summer long. Since i was in Middle Years last year i didn't get a normal applied skills, as you know, and that meant no foods! We haven't started cooking yet, but I'm positive, without a doubt, that it'll be Feshtastic! One class this year, where i didn't have to worry about the formality of meeting a new teacher and new people was- of course- applied skills. No worries there, we all knew each other in class. I think this year I'll try a bit harder to plan my days out. It'll be a new experience, although i hate following a schedule (it gets so boring!). Anyways you know how applied skills went, we all said our hello's and welcome backs. The very last class, social studies, was one i was also looking forward to. Mr. Martin seems to be an interesting teacher. I think he's nice if you listen to him (i think he gets mad if you make him repeat things twice or you ignore him altogether). He's one of those teachers who say "If you respect me, It'll be a good year". Or something along the lines of that. Wow, i realized that maybe i spent a bit too much time writing this blog. I'm going to read my book now.
